Recently, our president, Dan Lorenz had the opportunity to speak at the AGA Operations
Conference & Biennial Exhibition on Joe Knows Energy’s solutions to the inspector “Box of
Chocolates” issue. After his presentation, he brought back several key thoughts everyone in the
Local Distribution Industry had to share at the event.
1.) Most of the time LDC’s inspection staff are internal and many are unionized.
2.) The LDC industry is experiencing significant growth and new hires are needed to replace
baby boomers, who have 30+ years of experience. Millennials leaders of the same
caliber need to be developed rapidly.
3.) Local Distribution Companies need to focus on filling positions with millennials while
understanding that millennials need and want strong and clear leadership in their career
fields.
4.) Local Distribution Companies should be looking for ways to accelerate the learning
curve and retain talent by relating successful business metric feedback to individuals of
the company.
Local Distribution Companies need strong leadership as the industry continues to transition out
of the baby boomer era of workers and into the era of the millennial workers. Joe Knows
Energy provided technology enhanced leadership solutions to help identify good leaders and
accelerate their learning.
